A collective of women\u2019s voices performs a contemporary lament, inspired by traditional mourning songs and experimental sound art. Through spatialization, the voices move through the space and take on a sculptural quality. The work stems from a desire to reintroduce collective mourning into a society in which loss is often processed individually and in silence.<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Lament for a Burnt Forest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> proposes mourning as an active and transformative process: a way to not only acknowledge what is disappearing, but also to enter into a more conscious relationship with the world that remains after loss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">***<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Maan Methven <\/strong>and<strong> Victor Goemaere<\/strong> are an audio\/visual artist duo working at the intersection of film, photography, sound installation, and music. Across these diverse media, their practice centers on a search for new rituals, mourning practices, and the cycle of life\/death\/life.
