{"id":10749,"date":[1180,1179],"date_gmt":"2025-11-10T11:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/?post_type=event&#038;p=10749"},"modified":"2026-01-19T16:58:44","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T15:58:44","slug":"meteorgan","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/en\/event\/meteorgan\/","title":{"rendered":"Meteorgan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em><strong>31.01, 12:00 \u27a4 20:00<br \/>\n01.02, 12:00 \u27a4 18:00<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>METEORGAN<\/em> was born out of a meeting between composer Walter Hus and renewable energy expert Geert Palmers, who share a passion for wind.\u00a0 In this installation, presented as a work in progress during Son.Oor in Flagey, wind measurement data is converted in real time into an endless stream of organ music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wind can be measured in great detail and converted into digital data. Walter has been making music for years with computer-controlled, automatic pipe organs from the Decap company in Herentals. Here too, digital data is involved, but it does the opposite: it generates variations in the air pressure of the organ pipes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The music is produced by a beautiful automatic pipe organ, called \u201cThe Eye<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, which houses the most advanced air pressure technology in the world; the latest operating system from Decap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together with his son Jacob, Walter Hus is developing a compositional concept that uses various facets of meteorological measurements \u2014 wind speed, wind direction and altitude \u2014 as ingredients for a self-writing endless composition.
