{"id":9266,"date":[1179],"date_gmt":"2024-12-07T21:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/?post_type=event&#038;p=9266"},"modified":"2025-01-02T10:20:05","modified_gmt":"2025-01-02T09:20:05","slug":"rothko-chapel-jacob-hus","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/en\/event\/rothko-chapel-jacob-hus\/","title":{"rendered":"Rothko Chapel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this performance, a project he has been developing over the past years, Jacob will present &#8220;<strong>Rothko Chapel<\/strong>&#8221; a composition by Morton Feldman written for viola, choir, and percussion, originally composed for Mark Rothko\u2019s ecumenical chapel in Houston, Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This beautiful yet enigmatic composition has had a profound and unusual influence on Jacob&#8217;s life over the past few years, and he is thrilled to share his interpretation of this work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The piece features a sparse, delicate texture with long, sustained tones and a non-metrical, atonal structure, creating a serene and introspective atmosphere that invites reflection, much like the experience of viewing Mark Rothko&#8217;s paintings. To recreate the feelings evoked by both artists&#8217; works, Jacob collaborated with talented individuals to bring this piece to spaces that convey a similar sense of sacredness as the Rothko Chapel. He reimagined the piece by interweaving the classical composition with a live dancer, tactile scenography, and a light installation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a successful premiere in Hectolitre in june 2024, Jacob Hus picked the beautiful intimate church \u00c9glise Notre-Dame du Bon Secours for the performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00b0\u00b0\u00b0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Jacob Hus<\/strong> is an musician and composer from Brussels working with the viola, bass guitar and live-electronics for multiple bands, collectives and artists.
