{"id":9338,"date":[1180,1181,1175,1176,1177,1178,1179],"date_gmt":"2024-12-07T22:40:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/?post_type=event&#038;p=9338"},"modified":"2025-01-23T11:15:04","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T10:15:04","slug":"at-the-end-of-the-sentence-it-rotted-cecilie-fang","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.be\/en\/event\/at-the-end-of-the-sentence-it-rotted-cecilie-fang\/","title":{"rendered":"at the end of the sentence, it rotted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When language includes and excludes depending on who does and who does <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> speak, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>at the end of the sentence, it rotted<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a transforming sound installation that reflects upon the diasporic conditions of language.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking upon a history of constructed languages, the installation consists of\u00a0 abstractions of writing systems that together with sound are constantly transformed and turned into decay, as water is pumped in and reverses after 8 hours.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As an outsider of a language, any written or spoken words are purely strokes and\u00a0 phonetics; an asemic relation, when you are unable to grasp the meaning of words. Through bio-asemic rust and decay, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the end of the sentence, it rotted <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">searches for a language that includes all. It\u2019s a return to a time of pre-linguistics, where sound and touch are prominent. To return to a time before words became the dominant way of\u00a0 communicating.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>\u00b0\u00b0\u00b0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><em><b>Cecilie Fang <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is an anti-disciplinary artist and writer from China and Denmark currently\u00a0 based in The Hague. Her work is a continuous auto-ethnographic research, in which she\u00a0 researches power structures <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">language. She is interested in the diasporic conditions of language and what power lies behind literacy and the unableness to speak.
