In her lecture “Vous avez dit acousmatique?” (FR), Annette Vande Gorne explains why and how to listen to this type of music and presents the collective work of the workshops. The lecture is followed by a concert in which she will spatialize her composition 17 Haikus in 5 Seasons as a way to celebrate her 80th birthday in her hometown, Charleroi.

Since 1980, Annette Vande Gorne (Charleroi, Belgium, 1946) has given numerous concerts as a performer of spatialized acousmatic music, both the international repertoire and her own works. Her experience spanning from over 600 concerts has allowed her to express and develop her passion for space, both as a new mode of performance and as the fifth sound parameter for acousmatic composition. Nature and different relationships to words and meaning constitute her models toward an abstract and expressive language.
Her work includes over 100 mainly acousmatic opuses. She has been a professor of electroacoustic composition at the Royal Conservatoires of Liège, Brussels, and Mons (1986-2016), and founded an independent electroacoustic section in Mons in 2000 with 15 teachers. She created the Annette Vande Gorne Foundation in support of young composers of acousmatic works, as well as her own work (2022).
