Multisensory Sounds
In this workshop, we will be focusing on the relationship between vibration and body, sound and silence, listening and feeling, time and space.
Sound perception is not merely an auditory experience, but rather a cross-modal process in which the whole body is called to participate. Moving from this idea, we will investigate the possibility of a multisensory experience of sound as an accessible way of engagement for Deaf and hard of hearing people.
Open to both Deaf and hearing participants, this workshop relies on the tactile potential of our bodies to perceive vibrations. Through listening, reflection, and proprioceptive exercises, we will reactivate a multisensory way of feeling, enhancing a deeper awareness of the self and the surrounding environment. Valuing the uniqueness of each individual, participants will be invited to generate and sculpt sound vibrations using electronic musical instruments. Becoming direct co-creators of the waves for themselves and others, each participant will contribute to shaping a collective experience that is accessible to everyone.
The workshop will be co-conducted with Mathias Houndjenoukon – advisor for Deaf participants – and Annarita di Bitonto – advisor for hearing participants. Sign language interpreters will be available.
