Zenne Sounds

Brussels emerged from the river Zenne. But after years of water pollution and with regular flooding in the city, the river was hidden under the ground in the 19th century and its original trajectory was even changed. Today one can hardly imagine a river flowing in the center of Brussels.

Where did the Zenne flow in the beginning days of the city, and what does the city sound like nowadays where the river banks used to be?

We will walk from the Bourse until the sewers museum, where we can still hear the river roar.

During a retreat in the rugged landscape of the Nordic forests, Joost, Sebastian and Laura are inspired by the sound of silence and the emotions of small sounds. With opened ears, they invite us to listen carefully to the sonic richness of the city of Brussels, from everyday sounds to the most subtle noises. After Sound Around last year, Sebastian, Laura and Joost get together again for the listening walk around the origins of Brussels.
